Across the torch lit veranda, on the floor of the hotel balcony overlooking the ocean, a woman stood listening at an open window.

“How interesting,” she whispered to herself, so softly that the older woman in the back of the room could only imagine what she was thinking. She moved slowly to the other side of the room.
